Our Story
2016 – The Beginning of Junction Café
When Melissa Smart moved to Tannum Sands with her family, she never imagined she’d own a café—until she started working at Junction Café and fell in love with it. Just 18 months later, the opportunity to take over arose, and Melissa and her husband Matthew jumped at the chance. They wanted to create a warm, welcoming space where locals could gather over great coffee, fresh food, and good company.
2022 – A New Chapter: Tondoon Gardens
With Junction Café thriving in Tannum Sands, the opportunity came to expand into the stunning Tondoon Botanic Gardens. Bringing the same passion for great food, this new location offered a peaceful escape among the trees, making it the perfect place for relaxed dining, special events, and unforgettable celebrations.
2024 – The Junc Truck Hits the Road
As demand grew for private catering and event experiences, the next step was clear—the Junc Truck! Taking Junction Café’s fresh, flavour-packed food on the road, the food truck brought the same great flavours and friendly service to festivals, weddings, private parties, and corporate events across Central Queensland.
Today – More Than Just a Café
From a single café to multiple locations and a roaming food truck, Junction Café has grown into something special. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee at Tannum Sands, enjoying a meal among the trees at Tondoon Gardens, or catching The Junc Truck at an event, one thing remains the same—our love for good food, great coffee, and bringing people together.
